AdvancED Education

This proof-of-concept interactive data platform is designed to make racial disparities in educational opportunity visible and comparable across U.S. school districts and states. Building on earlier efforts such as ProPublica’s Miseducation, the platform harmonizes federal education data from 2011-2021 to examine how access to Advanced Placement (AP) coursework varies by race and place over time.

By emphasizing longitudinal trends and district-level context, the platform seeks to help educators, policymakers, advocates, and communities identify patterns, track progress, and better understand where inequities persist or where policy interventions have made positive impacts. The goal is to provide a clear, accessible foundation for more informed decision-making and accountability in expanding access to rigorous academic pathways.
